Kat Ward, a Yorkshire born artist, considers organic subject matter, such as the fluctuations in forms and structures within natural landscapes and spaces. Kat practices the habit of casual magic, curiously observing beauty in the overlooked and here, takes inspiration. She explores themes of potential growth, life force and the nostalgia of her rural, folk infused childhood.
These interests present predominantly through whimsical ceramic sculptures but are informed and supported by watercolour paintings and drawings. Through this practice, Kat journals her time spent in these natural landscapes and immerses herself within the process. In this way, her practice is often about a journey and the path she has taken to realise the artwork.
