Newcastle University Interim show is an annual exhibition held by final year Fine Art students. Interim explores current works and works in progress in preparation for the end of year degree show.
This work was made as part of Kat’s Fine Art studio practice towards the final year of her degree at Newcastle University. Her practice plays with ideas of nostalgia and childhood memories, growing up in a rural community in West Yorkshire. This rurality is reflected throughout her work which often focuses on organic subject matter. Within the final year of her degree, Kat has been experimenting with watercolour paints, trying to transfer the fluid nature of this medium, to the medium of ceramics in order to find a less static, and rigid way of working with clay.
